How to make a good video

This week in class, Guillermo Castilla (our last term Calculus teacher) came to explain how to make a better video because the former was a disaster. And the fact that helped me a lot and I think the rest too, is that everybody thought that making a video is recording it and then it is ready. But is not like that.

We learned that before recording, you can put a white sheet behind you makes the echo disappears. This can also be a good background. Also we learned that you have to think that you divide the image into a 3x3 template, framing things as you go recording.

It is clear that with a good camera everything is easier. The one that is in our college can record HD sounds.

But for me the most important thing is that before we finish recording a video we have to edit it with programs like “CAMTASIA”, and they can cut parts of the video , add pictures , music and everything you want.

Now we're all ready to do our best video.

  

2nd class of Communication Skills.

In this class the secretary didn't prepare the class, so we moved quickly. This day the teacher talked about communication, that not always is the direct language the most important one when it comes talking about anything.

In this class, we watched another video, this time of a person giving a speech on a wedding twice. The first time he never made a gesture and was reading the paper's speech all the time. The second time, he was moving from right to left, making pauses, smiling, making a joke, pointing at the married couple... This was an example about how you should make a speech and how not to. In my opinion, is a big difference between the two of them and I realized that is very important to know how to talk in public.

Later, the teacher sent us an activity in pairs. First, we choose a quote from a pdf and tell it to our partner. Then I have to write about how he spoke, like gestures, eye-contact, etc; then we do the opposite thing. Later, we tell a childhood memory and do the same thing with the quotes.

I'll leave two videos so you can see how important is the communication when it comes to give a speech.

• The first video is the speech of Al Pacino in the film "Any Given Sunday" just before his football players are going to jump inside the field, in order to motivate his players. For me is one of the best motivational speech I have ever heard.

• This second video is the speech of Lizzie Velasquez, I think I do not have to introduce this video because is one of the most emotional speech video I haver ever heard.

In these videos we can appreciate the importance of signs, voices and also the vocabulary they use to achieve their different purpose.

THE IMPORTANCE OF A GOOD APPEARANCE

 It is said that first impressions are the most important; and how right it is!

 Unconsciously we judge and analyse a person in the first few seconds of meeting her/him. This is one of the biggest reasons of why our personal image is so important.

 Our dressing, the appearance and our body language compose are some of the components of our self-image. The sum of all of these factors can make each one unique and different from the others. We need a good first impression that improves our strengths and embellishes our weaknesses.

 This is very important in professional fields. Sometimes you do not have the opportunity to introduce yourself physically to someone trying to give a good feeling. Maybe the best and most known example is the Curriculum Vitae: the reader will have rough idea about you just reading it.

 What can we do?

 A good photo should help us to stand out.

Here I will tell you some tips that can help us to improve our curriculum:

·                     A photo taken by an expert is the best choice.

·                     Do not wear piercings or extra earring. Wear a suit or formal dress.

·                     Try to look calm, relaxed and serene. Do not force the smile.

·                     Add the photo digitally and in a appropriated size.

A good photo can help us to get a job. This could be the importance of our personal image.
